Whales & Dolphins

Costa Rica is home to an estimated 25 species of whales and dolphins, who migrate, mate and make their homes in the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.

The warm waters of the Osa Peninsula in the South Pacific are Costa Rica's most popular destination for whale watching; In fact, the Osa Peninsula is home to the long humpback whale watching season in the world! In addition to humpback whales, pilot whales and pseudo orca can be observed, as well as bottlenose dolphins, spinner dolphins, spotted dolphins, common dolphins and rough-tooth dolphins.
